About

Highwoods.co.uk was first created in 2001. Over the years it’s seen several different versions as web technologies improve.  As a community website our aim is to provide useful information to people living in Highwoods and the surrounding area.

We believe that every community should have a free community website.  Our mission is to create the best community website in Essex.

We are always looking for new content from/about any of the following:

  • Businesses who want to advertise events, special offers and business news
  • Charities who want to increase their awareness and provide information about themselves and events they hold
  • Councillors and Police who want to keep us informed
  • Pubs and Restaurants - tell us about your menu, your history, special offers etc.
  • Walks and Bicycle rides – we are looking for information on local walks and Cycle paths
  • Clubs, Health Clubs, Gyms, Sports Clubs, Interest Groups tell us about yourselves
  • History of Highwoods (some old photos would be great).
  • Local competitions
  • Local Events
Basically if you live in the Highwoods/Colchester area, and want to post an article here on Highwoods.co.uk then send it to article@highwoods.co.uk.  If it is appropriate then we will add it.

A typical article would consist of:

  • Your Contact Name and Contact Details
  • Article Title
  • Content – Text and Pictures (any contact details you add to your content will be made public as it is part of your content).  Content should be 100+ words.
We do not post blatant general adverts, in other words, tell us something interesting and engage with us, such as a special offer or your business history, a testimonial or two, or an event or about one of your products / services that we might buy or recommend.
